Welcome and thank you for visiting our site
Hello, I’m Matt Dunkley, and became Interim Executive Director of Children’s Services at Norfolk County Council in February 2017.
In the short time I’ve been here I can really see just how dedicated and hardworking the staff in Children’s Services and that of all of our partners really are. I have been visiting our localities and front-line teams and their enthusiasm and welcome has been great, they are really motivated and are up for the next phase in our improvement journey.
The support and resources that we are receiving from our corporate colleagues, other directorates, members and partners has been so welcome and crucial to making things better for children and young people.
There have been considerable improvements in Children’s Services in Norfolk over the past couple of years with great professional opportunities and challenges across all sectors; the pace of change is fast and we are eager to welcome new colleagues to be part of this.
Norfolk County Council is determined to keep moving forward, at pace, with improvement, while accepting that we still have some way to go on our improvement journey. We continue to review our services to make sure that we are providing the best outcomes we can for the children and young people of Norfolk. By June 2017 we will have a new Edge of Care Service through a strategic partnership with Barnados, our new Teaching Partnership will be up and running, we have started the implementation of “apprenticeships” and we will be well into the next phase of our Improvement plan.
In the past few months we have had four really positive developments here which I believe that you will find interesting. The development of the Norfolk Social Care Academy, the continued implementation and embedding of the Signs of Safety framework and, from April this year, we will be part of a new Teaching Partnership with the UEA, Suffolk County Council and the University of Suffolk and embarking on Systemic Management training for our managers – these are all exciting new developments you could benefit from in Norfolk. More details about these can be found on the Your Development page.
On the following pages you can find out more about us and Norfolk and if you like what you see and are up for a change both professionally and personally then why not think about joining us? We have some great opportunities in our service for you, at the moment we are recruiting to a variety of management and Social Work posts across all 6 of our localities.
